What is Life Coaching?
Here I will explain:
What coaching IS and what coaching is NOT.
What specifically is the Insight Coaching Method and how it is different to other styles of coaching.
How life coaching differs from other forms of support such as Therapy or Counselling
Why everyone can benefit from having a coach!
Coaching in short is commiting to get more out of life. Through Coaching a safe, non-judgement space is created to discuss any number of topics that may be restricting you in life, from ultimately reaching your full potential. Coaching involves a 1:1 conversation between the Coach and the Coachee and with the aim being that this conversation takes the Coachee or the client deep in their thoughts and reflections to gain powerful life changing insights. To give some examples to paint the picture a little clearer:
Gaining clarity on situations or recent experiences that may have been particularly emotional, frustrating or difficult
Looking at managing stress levels and lifestyle factors
Looking at what you want to create for your life and future
Business goals, what actions you need to take and how to get there
Building a more positive frame of mind and mindset
Breaking down limiting beliefs and breaking through fears that may be holding you back from achieving
Getting clearer on what to focus your energy on and what to change in your lifestyle that may not be serving you.
The Coaching I offer is NOT about telling you what to do or how you could be doing something better, in fact there’s really not much advice giving and I shy away from that as an Insight Life Coach. - although a lot of coaching entails this and thats why insight life coaching is different. You see we don’t need more information, we are constantly overloaded with new information every day of our lives and this only works until it doesn’t. Meaning you can tell someone a better way of eating for example until they decide to go back to the old eating habits. INSIGHT = ACTION and through ACTION we see = CHANGE and TRANSFORMATION and that’s what we works the best.
Something really interesting based on this idea is the that we are more likely to contain 80% of information we tell ourselves and 20% of information we are told from others. Can you see now how important is it for the client to gain their own insights and why though this more shifts are gained. This is actually scientifically proven and can be represented with The Pareto Rule which makes for an interesting read if you wish to delve deeper!
Coaching is not Therapy or Counselling however they do work very well in tandem and definately compliment each others work. Coaching is about thriving, accomplishing and creating, it’s very much future focused and embodies self development. Coaching is investing in your own growth as human being and committing to change through taking action and breaking through fears. I myself have been on my own self development journey over the last 5 years, it’s something I am extremely passionate about and I have witnessed so much growth from learning about myself, increasing self awareness and having an open mind.
I believe everything we need, is already within us. BUT it’s useful to have help to 1. get clearer and closer to understanding ourselves more and 2. for someone to keep us accountable and to push us to LEVEL UP.
